The notifications for victories of Tariq Fazl Chaudhry (NA-47), Anjum Aqeel Khan (NA-46) and Raja Khurram Nawaz (NA-48) have been suspended.

IHC’s Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb and Justice Arbab Mohammad Tahir issued the order on petitions filed by the opponent candidates against the election results.

PTI-backed candidate Shoaib Shaeen had challenged the victory of Tariq Fazal Chaudhry from NA-47 in the high court while Amir Mughal, who was also backed by the PTI, had challenged the victory of PML-N candidate Anjum Aqeel from NA-46.

Similarly, PTI-backed Ali Bukhari had filed a petition against the victory of PML-N’s Raja Khurram Nawaz in NA-48.

Last week, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has withdrawn a notification regarding victory of Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) leader Awn Chaudhry in general elections from NA-128 Lahore.

An ECP official had informed the Islamabad High Court (IHC) during the hearing of the petition filed by Barrister Salman Akram Raja, who had challenged the IPP candidate’s victory against him.

DG Law of ECP Arshad Khan said the commission would issue a decision after hearing the plea filed by Raja, who was the PTI-backed candidate in NA-118.
