Intermittent rainfall continues across the province, affecting Peshawar, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank, North Waziristan, Kohat, Bajaur, Dir, Chitral, Swat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Battagram, Shangla, and Khyber.

Light snowfall has been reported in the higher mountainous regions, while lower hill areas are experiencing a sharp drop in temperature.

In Lower Dir, heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours has caused torrents in local streams and low-level flooding in the Panjkora River. The storms have also disrupted electricity supply, leaving several areas without power overnight. Strong winds and rain have brought colder conditions back to the region.

Peshawar and its surrounding areas have also been affected, with low-lying neighbourhoods submerged and water accumulating on roads, causing traffic disruptions.

Authorities have urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly in flood-prone areas, and to follow official advisories.

The PDMA, Rescue 1122, district administrations, and other agencies remain engaged in relief efforts. The director general of PDMA has instructed local administrations, particularly in Bannu, to expedite relief operations and provide immediate support to affected families.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi expressed sorrow over the loss of lives, according to a statement issued by the Governor’s Press Secretary.

Snowfall in Swat

Swat is witnessing a mix of weather conditions as rain continues in the plains while intermittent snowfall affects the mountainous regions. Upper areas, including Kalam, Mahodand, Gabral, Ushu, Matiltan, Gabin Jabba, and Malam Jabba, have reported significant snowfall.

The combination of snowfall and cold winds is gradually increasing the intensity of the chill in the region. Snow has covered everything in white, creating scenic views, and tourist arrivals continue to rise. Visitors from across the country are enjoying the snowfall and witnessing live snow in the upper valleys.

According to the Meteorological Department, rain in the plains and snowfall in the higher altitudes are expected to continue over the next four days. Travellers are advised to exercise caution while visiting mountainous areas and stay updated on weather conditions.
