Pakistani actress Mahira Khan recently shared her admiration for Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, highlighting a particular trait of his that left a lasting impression on her during their time working together on the 2017 film Raees.
In a recent interview at an event in London, Mahira opened up about her experience with Shah Rukh, noting that the actor’s ability to make others feel truly valued stood out to her.
She explained that one of the most beautiful aspects of his personality is how he gives his full attention to the person he is speaking with, whether in person or over the phone.
“I think what is beautiful about Shahrukh is you feel very important when you talk to him or message him,” said Mahira. “It is very specific to you” she added.
Mahira and Shah Rukh Khan shared the screen in the film Raees, in which they played pivotal roles. Mahira has since continued to speak highly of her co-star’s generosity and kindness.
In a recent interview with casting director Mukesh Chhabra for Mashable India, Raees director Rahul Dholakia shared the story behind Mahira’s casting. Rahul explained that finding an actress who could match Shah Rukh Khan’s age and fit the character of Aasiya was no easy task. “Shah Rukh was 50, so we needed a heroine who was at least in her 30s,” he said.
What set Mahira apart, according to Rahul Dholakia, was her command of Hindi and the innocence she brought to the role. The director highlighted how rare it was to find an actor in their 30s with the right combination of qualities, making Mahira the ideal choice for the part.
