The order to shorten Friday sermons in the United Arab Emirates continues

Dubai:  The authorities have ordered the shortening of Friday sermons from today in view of the intense heat across the country.

Authorities have asked imams across the country to limit Friday sermons and prayers to 10 minutes after temperatures in the UAE soared past 50 degrees Celsius. This directive will be applicable from today, Friday, June 28 to October.

Friday is the best day in Islam, on this day special congregational prayers are organized in mosques, which is called Friday. Many worshipers have to pray in the courtyards in the hot sun as mosques fill up quickly.

This measure will protect the worshipers from the extreme summer temperatures.

Muhammad Yassin, a Syrian citizen who attended Friday prayers at Dubai Sports City, said, “I hope that imams will also read short verses to make the prayer as easy as possible for everyone
