Hamas supports the US resolution of the Security Council for a cease-fire in Gaza
Washington: Hamas has accepted a UN resolution supporting the US plan for a permanent end to the war with Israel in Gaza.
According to Reuters, the senior leader of Hamas, Sami Abu Zahri, said this in a telephone conversation with the correspondent.
Hamas has not yet responded to this claim by Reuters.
According to Reuters, Sami Abu Zahri, who is currently based outside Gaza, said that Hamas is open to further discussions and talks to determine the details of the resolution.
However, the Hamas leader made this support conditional and demanded that the US now ensure that Israel abides by this resolution.
Senior Hamas leader Sami Abu Zuhri added that the complete withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza and the exchange of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners is acceptable.
Abu Zahri further told Reuters that the United States should now implement the Security Council resolution and fulfill its commitments to an immediate end to the war with Israel.
This statement by Hamas came at a time when US Secretary of State Anthony Blanken is meeting with Israeli officials to implement the US roadmap for a ceasefire in Gaza.
The US Secretary of State Anthony called the acceptance of the resolution of Hamas a hope and said that the foundation of peace was laid in the region.
