In Masjid al-Haram and Masjid an-Nabawi, Friday prayers and sermons were reduced to 15 minutes

Riyadh:  In order to protect the lives of worshipers due to the extreme heat in Saudi Arabia, sermons, prayers and supplications were shortened this Friday in Masjid al-Haram and Masjid an-Nabawi.

According to Arab media, on the instructions of Sheikh Abd al-Rahman al-Sudais, the caretaker of the affairs of the holy mosques, the interval between the first and second adhan for Friday prayers will also be reduced to 10 minutes.

Today, the sermon of Friday prayer and the duration of the congregation will also be 15 minutes instead of 30 to 45 minutes, while the prayer will also be shortened.

It should be noted that the change in the duration of prayers and sermons was made last Friday, which will remain in place until the end of summer.

The reason for this change is that it is very hot in Makkah and Madinah and worshipers reach Masjid al-Haram and Masjid an-Nabawi in large numbers on Fridays.

Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sadis, the caretaker of the affairs of the holy mosques, said that human life is better. For Friday, the worshipers stand in the scorching sun and intense heat from 11 am to 4 pm.

Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al Sudis said that we do not want to leave any stone unturned in hosting the guests of Allah. We don’t want people to swelter in the heat. The reduction in the duration of the prayer has been done to make things easier for worshippers.

In the United Arab Emirates, the duration of sermons and prayers on Fridays has been shortened to 10 minutes.

It should be noted that the temperature of Makkah reached 50 degrees Celsius during the Hajj, due to which more than a thousand pilgrims died, most of whom were unregistered pilgrims
