With petrol likely to become expensive, oil marketing companies stopped supply to pumps
Lahore: Oil marketing companies have stopped the supply of petroleum products to petrol pumps despite taking advance money on reports of increase in the prices of petroleum products from July 1.
Khawaja Atif, Senior Secretary General of Petroleum Dealers Association, while talking to Express News, said that petroleum products were also offloaded from the oil tankers that started departing from the oil depots.
He said that if this situation remains, then petrol will not be available at petrol pumps across the country, including Lahore, and there will be fights at petrol pumps.
He said that the only reason for not giving supply is that the prices of petrol products are expected to increase from July 1 and the oil companies have to earn billions of rupees profit on it.
On the other hand, Chairman of Oil Marketing Company Association Tariq Wazir Ali says that the oil marketing companies are not getting supply from the oil refinery. A letter has also been written to that the oil refinery is not supplying oil due to which problems are being faced.
The senior secretary of Petroleum Dealers Association rejected this claim and said that there is collusion between oil marketing companies and oil refineries, both of them want to loot together. If the supply is not received on time and the price increases, then the benefit will be those who have millions of liters of petrol stored, while the owners of petrol pumps have to keep only a few thousand liters for the petrol pumps.
