Violation of POS system will result in shop closure and penalty, Chairman FBR

Islamabad:  Chairman FBR has said that apart from sealing the shop, a fine will also be imposed for violation of the POS system.

In the Senate Standing Committee on Finance, Chairman FBR said that from the next financial year, the taxpayer’s IT system will be linked to the FBR system. This will be done under the digitization system. There will be license integrators to connect the taxpayer’s system with FBR.

He said that this system is being introduced after the fraud in the point of sale system. The previous system adopted an open software system. Now FBR will have its own system. With the new system, sales purchases can be viewed anywhere in real time. Now they are also increasing the punishment on two digits. Previously, the restaurant was fined Rs 5 lakh, now such restaurants will also be sealed for a week.

Senator Saleem Mandviwala said that nowadays it is said that the card machine is bad, transfer the money to that account, that account belongs to one of his employees.

Senator Sherry Rehman said that a law should be made to ensure payment through cards at major retailers. It should be made mandatory to make payments of more than 30,000 rupees through cards at shops. Penalty should be imposed on shops for link down.

Chairman FBR said that if we get 3 invoices in a day and 5 in a week, in which the POS system is bypassed, we will seal such a shop. A system fine of Rs 5 lakh will also be imposed on such shops.
