Attack on Danish Prime Minister by unknown person, condemned by the head of the European Union
Copenhagen: Danish Prime Minister Matt Frederiksen was attacked by an unknown person, who was later arrested by the police.
According to the world news agency, the attack on the Danish Prime Minister took place in the center of the capital Copenhagen. She was passing through the intersection called Cluttervet in the evening when a man suddenly appeared and started hitting the Prime Minister with his hands. Aur managed to escape.
A spokesman for the Prime Minister’s Office says that Prime Minister Matt Fredrickson is doing well but is concerned about the sudden attack.
Police say they have arrested a man who allegedly attacked and are investigating the incident, but declined to provide further details about the attacker.
The attack comes two days before Denmark votes in EU elections, with the Danish prime minister having earlier attended a European election campaign event alongside Social Democrat frontrunner Kristal Schaldemos.
Prime Minister Matt Frederiksen’s Social Democrats are the largest party in Denmark’s coalition government, still ahead of the other parties in the election polls, but their support has fallen dramatically in recent months.
European Commission chief Ursula van der Leyen strongly condemned the attack on Prime Minister Matt Frederiksen, calling it a ‘despicable act’, while EU chief Charles Michel said on social networking site X. “I strongly condemn this cowardly act of aggression,” he added, furious at the moment.
It should be noted that Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico was also assassinated while welcoming his supporters, he was shot multiple times and is still undergoing surgery.
