Severe heat wave in India, 74 people died including 33 Election Commission officials

New Delhi:  74 people including 33 Election Commission officials have died due to the ongoing heat wave in India.

According to Indian media, deaths from heat stroke occurred in the states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha. In the capital New Delhi, a person died due to fever exceeding 107 degrees due to heat. New Delhi recorded a record high of 52 degrees Celsius this week.

According to the Meteorological Department, the heat wave is likely to continue. Indian authorities have issued instructions to people not to leave their homes unnecessarily, stay in shady places and use water as much as possible.
