Port Morris Bay: In the Oceania country of Papua New Guinea, a large mudslide fell on dozens of houses, in which more than 2 thousand people were buried.
According to the World News Agency, more than 650 bodies have been removed from the mudslide in Papua New Guinea during relief operations, while more than a thousand people are still buried under the debris.
The head of the rescue team says that the hopes of finding the people buried under the debris are dying. Due to difficult roads and bad weather, relief operations are facing difficulties.
The National Disaster Center’s letter to the United Nations said that residential buildings and food gardens were severely damaged in the landslide. The personnel of the rescue team have also been buried in the landslide.
Care International PNG country director Justin McMahon said the exact number of people buried under the debris is difficult to estimate because the local population estimated that 4,000 people lived in the affected area.
