When and where were the burials of the president and others; Details ongoing

Tehran:  The details of the funeral and burial of 8 people, including Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahian, who died in a helicopter crash, and the memorial events to be held to pay tribute to them have been released.

According to Iran’s official media, Interim President Mohammad Mokhbar has announced that the funeral prayers of those who died in the helicopter crash on Wednesday were performed in Tehran. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei will lead the funeral prayer.

A public holiday has been declared on Wednesday across the country for funeral prayers and burials while all academic examinations will be postponed till the end of this week and the new date will be announced by the Ministry of Education.

The mass funeral will be held in Tehran on Wednesday, but before that, on Tuesday, the bodies will be brought from the East Azerbaijan province to Mosula from Martyrs’ Square in Tabriz city.

After that, the dead will be taken in the form of a procession from the holy shrine of Hazrat Masooma (PBUH) to Masjid Jamkaran on Tuesday evening in the city of Qom.

After visiting the shrine of Mr. Sakina, the ashes of the martyrs should be brought to the shrine of Imam Khomeini in Tehran on Tuesday night for farewell greetings.

Later on Wednesday, the dead will be brought in a procession from Tehran University to Azadi Square and the spiritual leader Ayatollah Khamenei will lead the funeral prayer.

After the funeral prayers, some will be buried in Tehran and the rest will be buried in their native areas. On Wednesday evening itself, there will be a ceremony to pay homage to the martyrs in the presence of high foreign dignitaries.

On Thursday, the body of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi will be brought to his native Mashhad, where the funeral prayer will be held again and then he will be buried there.
