Prince William ‘envies’ Prince Harry’s freedom amid royal family tensions

Following Prince Harry’s recent return to the UK, his relationship with brother Prince William reportedly remains strained.

Sources tell Us Weekly that William feels “a bit envious” of Harry’s newfound freedoms.

Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, famously stepped back from senior royal duties in 2020 and relocated to California. Since then, Harry has found success with initiatives such as the Invictus Games, a sporting event for wounded service members.

Royal historian Ed Owens believes William may envy his brother’s international achievements. “Harry has done remarkable things,” Owens says, noting the Invictus Games’ global impact.

This potential envy echoes previous reports that William was surprised by  the Invictus Games’ success.  Harry himself has acknowledged past sibling rivalry, even referring to William as his “archnemesis” in his memoir, Spare.

However, another source to Us Weekly claims Harry no longer harbours these feelings  and has invited his family to an upcoming Invictus Games anniversary event in London. Whether William and Kate Middleton will attend remains to be seen.

This ongoing rift comes as William faces added pressure within the royal family.  Sources say he feels a “profound sense of duty” to maintain the monarchy’s image amidst personal concerns like Kate’s and King Charles III’s respective cancer battles.
