Christian radio network K-Love shared a heartfelt tribute to the singer, praising her unwavering faith and open vulnerability: “Mandisa loved Jesus, and she used her unusually extensive platform to talk about Him at every turn…Her kindness was epic, her smile electric, her voice massive, but it was no match for the size of her heart.”
Born Mandisa Lynn Hundley, the singer rose to fame during Season 5 of “American Idol” in 2006, becoming a fan favorite with her powerful renditions of songs like “I’m Every Woman” and “Shackles (Praise You)”. Though eliminated in the top nine, she parlayed her success into a celebrated career in gospel and contemporary Christian music.
Her 2007 debut album, “True Beauty,” made history by becoming the first female artist to debut at the top of Billboard’s Christian album chart. Mandisa went on to release several successful albums, including “Overcomer,” which earned her a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Album in 2014.
