2025-26 Men’s Ashes schedule revealed, first match to be played in Perth
Cricket Australia has officially unveiled the dates for the highly anticipated 2025-26 Men’s Ashes series, set to kick off at Perth Stadium from November 21-25, 2025. The announcement was made on Wednesday at an event held at Scarborough Beach, Perth, with support from the Western Australian Government.
The iconic five-match series will begin with the “West Test” in Perth, followed by a day-night Test at the Gabba in Brisbane (December 4-8) and the traditional Christmas Test at Adelaide Oval (December 17-21). The famous Boxing Day Test at Melbourne’s MCG (December 26-30) and the New Year’s Test at Sydney’s SCG (January 4-8) will maintain their usual timeslots, providing a classic Ashes summer experience for cricket fans.
This announcement aligns with Australian Cricket’s seven-year scheduling plan, designed to offer more certainty for fans and enhance partnerships with governments and tourism departments. By releasing the Ashes dates early, Cricket Australia aims to help international and interstate fans plan their trips in advance.
Joel Morrison, CA Executive General Manager for Events and Operations, expressed excitement about the series:
“There is already enormous excitement surrounding the 2025-26 NRMA Insurance Ashes series and we are pleased to announce the dates for the five Men’s Tests to enable fans across the world to lock in their travel plans.
“Beginning with the West Test at Perth Stadium, the 2025-26 Ashes dates align with our recently released seven-year international schedule and we are grateful for the support state and territory governments are providing to enhance and grow our major events.
Morrison highlighted the support from state and territory governments, emphasizing the significance of the Ashes in the global sporting calendar:
“The history and excitement of the Ashes make it one of the world’s most iconic sporting events and we are delighted this fierce and electrifying rivalry will extend over two summers in 2025 – commencing with CommBank Women’s Ashes this summer, which includes the historic MCG day-night Test, and culminates in the Men’s Ashes next summer.
“We have been inundated with requests from fans around the world wanting to travel to Australia and attend the 2025-26 Ashes series and we urge everyone to register with the Australian Cricket Family for priority access to tickets or visit the CA Travel Office to book in their travel.”
Western Australia’s Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism, Rita Saffioti, spoke about the significance of hosting the series opener in Perth:
“Western Australia has a long and incredibly proud cricketing history, so we’re very excited to be hosting the opening Ashes Test match in November 2025 at our award-winning Perth Stadium.
“The United Kingdom has consistently been WA’s top visitor market and with the direct flight between London and Perth operating all year-round, it’s even easier for the cricket-mad English to escape their winter, and head to Australia for an incredible summer of cricket, starting here in Perth.
“Of course, while they’re here they can also make the most of what Western Australia has to offer, and experience the likes of Rottnest Island, the Swan Valley and Fremantle in our metro area, or venture out to our regions to enjoy our incredible experiences and natural landscapes right up and down the coastline.”
