PAK vs ENG: England trail Pakistan by 64 runs with Joe Root, Harry Brook set on crease
The third day of the first Test match between Pakistan and England in Multan concluded with England firmly in control, scoring 492 runs for the loss of three wickets.
Starting the day on 96 runs with one wicket down, England quickly lost opener Zak Crawley for 78, adding just 17 runs to the score. However, Joe Root and Ben Duckett countered this setback with a formidable partnership of 136 runs. Duckett eventually fell after scoring 84 runs.
As the day closed, Joe Root remained at the crease with an impressive 176 runs, alongside Harry Brook, who contributed 141 runs. England now trail by only 64 runs .
In Pakistan’s bowling attack, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Aamer Jamal each claimed one wicket.
Second Day Highlights
At the end of the second day, England had reached 96 runs for the loss of one wicket, requiring an additional 460 runs to overcome Pakistan’s score of 556.
England’s Ollie Pope was dismissed for a duck, while Zak Crawley and Joe Root were at the crease with scores of 64 and 32, respectively.
In Pakistan’s first innings, the team scored 556 runs before being bowled out. All-rounder Agha Salman starred with the bat, remaining not out at 104 runs.
Pakistan’s first wicket of the day fell to Nasim Shah, who scored 33 runs before returning to the pavilion. Other notable scores included Mohammad Rizwan (0), Aamer Jamal (7), Shaheen Shah Afridi (26), Abrar Ahmed (3), and Saud Shakeel, who contributed 82 runs before being dismissed by Shoaib Bashir.
In response, England’s Jack Leach took three wickets, while Gus Atkinson and Brydon Carse each claimed two wickets. Shoaib Bashir and Joe Root also chipped in with one wicket each.
