Sindh governor backs manufacturing sector

Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote the growth of the manufacturing sector and contribute to the country’s economic development.

During a visit to the Indus Motor Company (IMC) plant, Tessori praised the company’s achievements in localisation, its contributions to the local auto industry, and its impact on the national economy and employment generation.

“It’s been a remarkable experience visiting Indus Motor and witnessing first-hand its modern plant that has set a benchmark in Pakistan’s automotive industry,” he said. “The significant capital and human resource investments made by the company speak volumes about its focus on the quality and safety of its products. It’s no wonder that our people love and trust the Toyota brand. The company’s recent initiative to export ‘Make in Pakistan’ Toyota vehicles and parts is commendable, firmly placing Pakistan on the world map. The provincial government is eager to continue supporting initiatives that drive economic growth and promote environmental responsibility, not just in Sindh, but across the country.”

IMC CEO Ali Asghar Jamali briefed the Sindh governor on the company’s advancements and future plans, highlighting its progress in the local auto industry. He highlighted the company’s recent achievements in localisation and international expansion.

Jamali noted the impressive 64% localisation level achieved by Toyota models, with the Corolla range now boasting over 60% localisation. He also announced that IMC has begun exporting semi-processed raw materials to Egypt and vehicles to Oceanian countries, marking a significant milestone in the country’s Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) export history.
