Shah Mahmod Qureshi believes political stability requires recognition of Imran Khan’s role

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) central leader, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, believes that political stability in the country is unattainable without recognising the political significance of PTI founder, Imran Khan.

During an informal conversation with journalists at Kot Lakhpat Jail, Qureshi reflected on his 40-year political career, claiming that he had never faced any legal charges until the past year, during which dozens of cases have been filed against him.

Responding to a question, Qureshi said that, “Regardless of differing opinions, Imran Khan is a political reality in Pakistan and acknowledging this is crucial for the country’s political stability.”

The former caretaker of Sufi saint Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya Suharwardi’s shrine then reffered to the case of Nawab Akbar Bugti, labeling the treatment metted to the feudal lord as ‘unjust’ and said that Bugti was not anti-Pakistan.

He called for an end to the practice of labeling individuals as traitors, highlighting that such accusations have been carelessly made for the past 75 years.

Talking about Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Qureshi described him as a ‘true democrat,’ saying that anyone with democratic and constitutional beliefs cannot be considered a traitor.

He further stated that achieving peace in Balochistan requires a path through dialogue and negotiation.
