The Men in Blue clinched their second T20 World Cup trophy by edging out South Africa in a thrilling final, winning by seven runs. Their first victory came in 2007 when they defeated Pakistan in the inaugural T20 World Cup final.
South Africa had a shaky start, losing Reeza Hendricks and Aiden Markram early. Yet, a solid 68-run partnership between Quinton de Kock and Tristan Stubbs put them back on track. Heinrich Klaasen then hammered Axar Patel for 22 runs in the 15th over, seemingly putting the Proteas in control.
Ultimately, South Africa finished their innings at 169-8. For India, Pandya took three wickets, while Arshdeep Singh and Bumrah grabbed two each, and Patel claimed one.
Earlier in the match, Kohli led the charge with a top score of 76 runs off 59 balls, including six fours and two sixes. His stellar performance set a strong foundation for India’s total.
