T20 World Cup; India reached the final by defeating England

Guyana:  In the second semi-final of the ICCT 20 World Cup, India defeated England by 68 runs and qualified for the final.

In the second semi-final of T20 World Cup 2024 played at Providence Stadium in Guyana, India had given England a target of 172 runs to win, in response to which the English team was all out by scoring 103 runs in 16.4 overs.

The final of the event will be played between South Africa and India on Saturday at 7:30 PM PT in Barbados.

England’s innings:

In pursuit of the target, none of England’s batsmen could last long in front of the Indian bowlers and wickets kept falling one after the other.

Harry Brooke 25, Jos Buttler 23, Jofra Archer got out by scoring 21 runs, apart from them, none of the English batsmen could enter into double figures.

Akshar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav took three wickets and Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets for India.

India’s innings:

Batting first, India scored 171 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs, Rohit Sharma 57 and Suryakumar Yadav 47.

Hardik Pandya 23, Akshar Patel 10, Virat Kohli 9, Rishabh Pant 4 runs while Shivam Dubey returned to the pavilion for zero. Ravindra Jadeja remained not out with 17 and Arsdeep Singh with 1 run.

For England, Chris Jordan took 3 wickets, Rhys Topley, Jofra Archer, Sam Curran and Adil Rashid took one wicket each.

Toss:

Earlier, England had won the toss and invited India to bat first. Due to rain, the match started at 8:45 instead of 7:30 and the toss was also delayed.

Earlier, in the first semi-final of the ICCT 20 World Cup, South Africa defeated Afghanistan by 9 wickets to qualify for the final of the mega event for the first time.

In the first semi-final of the mega event at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad, South Africa chased down Afghanistan’s easy target of 56 runs for the loss of one wicket in 8.5 overs.
