Darbant: 23 people, including police officers, have been killed in an attack by gunmen on Jewish synagogues and churches in the Republic of Dagestan, located in the north of Russia.
According to the British news agency, gunmen targeted the cities of Derbent and Makhachkala on the occasion of the Orthodox festival of Pentecost in the Republic of Dagestan, located in the North Caucasus of Russia.
The attackers targeted 2 churches and 2 synagogues, and set fire to a church and a synagogue.
As a result of the attack, at least 15 policemen, a priest and a security guard were killed while 6 of the attackers were killed in police firing.
Police officials say that a search operation is underway in the area, and more accomplices of the terrorists are being sought.
