G7 meeting; Agreed to use Russia’s frozen assets against him

Italy:  G7 leaders agree on plan to use Russia’s frozen assets against it.

According to the news of the British news agency, the leaders of the member countries unanimously decided at the G7 summit meeting in Italy that 50 billion dollars will be provided to Ukraine from the frozen assets of Russia.

The leaders of the United States, Germany, France, Canada, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom are participating in the G7 meeting, which will discuss the Ukraine and Gaza wars, among other issues.

Leaders of developing countries from Africa and the Indo-Pacific region will also participate in this meeting.

Officials say G7 members agree that the aid will provide a vital lifeline to war-weary Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is exclusively attending the G7 summit in Italy and is expected to hold a press conference today with his counterpart Joe Biden.

Russian forces launched a war against Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Despite the backing and diplomatic support of the United States, the European Union and NATO, Ukraine is still facing Russian forces alone.

Ukraine has repeatedly complained to European countries about its lack of resources and military equipment, but each time it has been rebuffed with meager military aid.

It should be noted that some G7 decisions in the past have had global implications, including support for a 2021 tax treaty on multinational companies.
