PM Shehbaz vows to eradicate Pakistan’s enemies

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday vowed to eradicate Pakistan’s enemies during the funeral of Captain Muhammad Faraz Ilyas, who was martyred in a terrorist attack in the Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) province the previous day.

On Sunday, the military’s media wing, in a statement, said that an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated on a vehicle of the security forces in Lakki Marwat, resulting in the martyrdom of seven soldiers.

Shaheed Captain Faraz Ilyas, 26 years old, belonged to the village Rai Kalan, Kasur laid down his life valiantly while performing his duties in Lakki Marwat.

The funeral prayer was also attended by Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, IG Police Punjab and a number of senior military officers, civil authorities and residents.

The PM also met with the parents of Shaheed captain and expressed condolences.

He announced the transformation of the native village of the martyred officer into a model village and renamed it “Faraz Ilyas Shaheed”.

Also on X (formerly Twitter), the premier noted that he was deeply saddened by the martyrdom of Pak Army personnel including a captain in a targeted attack in District Lakki Marwat.

PM Shehbaz also assured the nation of their commitment, stating, “We will completely eliminate the enemies of Pakistan. The blood of shaheed Captain Faraz Ilyas will not be in vain; his sacrifice will yield results.”

The funeral follows an IED explosion in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat district, which killed seven soldiers, including the 26-year-old Captain Faraz Ilyas.

A day earlier, it was also reported that at least nine people, including seven army personnel, were injured in two separate terrorist attacks in Kurram and Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan) districts of K-P.
