According to FIA, the rate of online banking fraud in the country is increasing day by day, after which even the applications of the complainants are not being received.
According to the documents obtained by Daily Express and Express Tribune, there has been a record increase in online banking fraud in the last 5 years. According to the records, the incidents of financial and electronic fraud have been reported the most in the last 5 years in Punjab Cybercrime. The rate has been revealed as 12 to 16 incidents on a daily basis.
According to the record, online fraud has been reported more from 2019 to 2023, in which electronic fraud is at the top. In total, about 29 thousand incidents have been reported in these five years, says former DG FIA Syed Tahsin Anwar Ali Shah. IT expert Shahid Hussain says that online banking fraud has come to the top in the rate of cybercrime in Pakistan due to this misuse of technology, there is no awareness of technology among the people.
FIA Additional Director Law Masood Naseem says that regarding banking fraud, we have kept our own system under which after receiving the application, it is checked and investigated.
Jahangir Khan, operations manager of a bank, said that even by going to the banking ombudsman, the amount of fraud is recovered with a rate of more than 80 percent
