ISLAMABAD: An unusual proposal for amendments regarding women and children in the passport rules has come out.
After the proposed amendments, in case of divorce or separation, the woman’s passport will be in the father’s name. In case of divorce between the parents, the names of the parents will be entered in the passport of the minor children.
According to a private TV, the federal government will take the final decision to amend the passport rules. The Home Ministry and the Law Ministry are considering the proposed amendments in the rules.
Passport software and boxes will have to be updated after the rules are amended. The federal government will decide on the proposals after consultation with all stakeholders
