The application against the appointment of Ishaq Dar as Deputy Prime Minister is scheduled for hearing
ISLAMABAD: The petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader and Member of National Assembly Sher Afzal Marwat against the appointment of Ishaq Dar as Deputy Prime Minister has been fixed for hearing.
According to Registrar Islamabad Court, Chief Justice Amir Farooq will hear the application tomorrow, for which notices have been issued to the concerned parties.
Sher Afzal Marwat, through lawyer Riyaz Hanif Rahi, filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court arguing that Ishaq Dar is already working as Federal Minister Khaja, on April 28, with the approval of the Prime Minister, Ishaq Dar as Deputy Prime Minister appointment notification has been issued.
It has been stated in the petition that there is no mention of the post of Deputy Prime Minister in the Constitution and there is no such provision that the Prime Minister issues a notification for the appointment of someone as Deputy Prime Minister.
He argued in the petition that two posts have been given to the same person for personal gain at public expense, a person who is illegally appointed cannot get the benefits of the state, Ishaq Dar as Deputy Prime Minister. The notification of appointment dated 28 April 2024 should be declared null and void.
In the petition, it is requested to be compensated for placing this important matter before the court, the federal government, Secretary Cabinet Division, Prime Minister and Ishaq Dar have been made parties in the petition.
