Large number of Pakistani runners take part in London Marathon

LONDON:This year’s London Marathon witnessed a record number of Pakistani athletes participating, marking a significant presence in one of the renowned World Major Marathons.

Leading the pack among Pakistani male runners was Muhammad Usman, who completed the marathon in an impressive 2 hours and 59 minutes, followed closely by Miqdad Muhammad, finishing in 3 hours and 15 minutes.

In the women’s category, Aisha Qamar stood out with her remarkable time of 2 hours and 59 minutes, closely followed by Sara Lodhi, who finished in 3 hours and 22 minutes.

The Pakistani contingent comprised runners from both Karachi and Islamabad, including a Pakistani expatriate. Several notable performances were showcased by individuals such as Zain Anwar, Abdul Sami, Yawar Siddiqui, Muhammad Babar Ali, Bilal Ehsan, Ahmed Zubair, Mohammad Aurangzaib, Faisal Shafi, Raees Ebrahim, Shah Faisal, Imran Khan Niazi, Muhammad Ali, Zohaib Moin, Shariq Samad, Fawad Karim, Babar Ghias, Ammar Mumtaz, Miqdad Mohammad, and Nazakat Ali.

The female athletes also delivered commendable performances, with names like Hira Diwan, Jevi Majid, Nida Yawar, Semeena Khan, Uzma Abid, and Nadia Anwar shining in the competition.

Even beyon the competitive runners, it was heartening to see diverse participants from Pakistan taking part in this prestigious event. Among them was Express News anchorperson Rehman Azhar, participating in his third World Major Marathon.

This strong representation of Pakistani talent at the London Marathon reflects the growing enthusiasm and dedication of athletes from the nation on the global stage.
