Quentin Tarantino cancels “The Film Critic” – the movie that was going to be his swan song

Quentin Tarantino has reportedly scrapped his previously announced final film, “The Movie Critic.”

This news, reported by Deadline, comes after months of anticipation surrounding the project. Brad Pitt was slated to star, marking their third collaboration following “Inglourious Basterds” and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.”

Rumours also arose about potential cameos from actors who graced Tarantino’s past films.

The film’s story, set in 1977 California, reportedly centered around a real-life, albeit obscure, movie reviewer who wrote for an adult magazine.

The decision to abandon “The Movie Critic” appears to stem from a creative shift. While details remain scarce, sources close to Tarantino told Deadline that he “simply changed his mind” and is now searching for a different project to serve as his 10th and final film.

This isn’t the first time Tarantino has reshuffled his filmmaking plans. Back in 2014, a script leak for “The Hateful Eight” almost derailed the project entirely. However, Tarantino eventually revisited the film, leading to a successful release.

Tarantino himself drew inspiration from a teenage job where he encountered a “snarky and smart” film critic within the pages of an adult publication.

Some fans were excited by the plot and were dismayed at the film’s cancellation.
