Peshawar Zalmi raises concerns over PSL 9 schedule

Peshawar Zalmi team has raised questions about the Pakistan Super League edition 9 schedule, expressing disappointment with the administration for only scheduling four matches in Rawalpindi and one match in Karachi.

The franchise sources say that fundamentally, events should have been held in Peshawar, and they have strong reservations about the schedule and venues. Zalmi was not included in the decision-making process nor was their confidence sought before releasing the schedule. The administration is disappointed with only four matches scheduled in Rawalpindi and just one in Karachi.

Sources further stated that even before the schedule was released, Peshawar Zalmi had requested three matches to be played near Peshawar due to support in Rawalpindi and Karachi, with supporters filling stadiums in these cities.

After the schedule was released, a request was made to reduce the schedule of four matches in Lahore to four matches in Rawalpindi and three in Karachi. The administration also informed the PCB headquarters about the reservations, but no attention was paid to the matter.

Not only Zalmi’s fans are disappointed with the current schedule but also team’s commercial and marketing department are facing difficulties and reservations.

Franchise sources added that while Peshawar Zalmi has been at the forefront of promoting and popularizing the PSL, PCB should also consider the concerns of all franchises. They demand more matches to be played in Rawalpindi and Karachi. Peshawar Zalmi will participate in PSL 9, but the protest will continue.
