Fakhar Zaman backs Saim and Azam amid setbacks against New Zealand

Pakistan hard-hitting batter Fakhar Zaman throws his support behind fellow teammates Saim Ayub and Azam Khan, following their recent setbacks in the recently concluded five-match T20I series against New Zealand.

In a recent interview with a local YouTube channel, Zaman emphasized that the authority to make decisions about player exclusions lies outside his influence, resting solely in the hands of the captain and head coach.

“This wasn’t in my hands because it’s the decision of the captain and head coach. But if I was the captain or if it was in my hands, I would never drop Saim Ayub or Azam Khan from any T20 team. They should be given more chances,” Fakhar said.

It is worth noting that the Pakistan team under the leadership of Shaheen faced a resounding 4-1 defeat in the aforementioned series against New Zealand.

In this series, emerging opener Saim Ayub struggled, participated in four matches and accumulated 39 runs at an average of 9.75. Meanwhile, wicket-keeper batsman Azam Khan, who featured in three matches, managed to score 22 runs with an average of 7.33.
