Bayern Munich kick-started their Bundesliga title defence with a resounding 5-1 victory over Stuttgart thanks to a sparkling second half display at the \u200bAllianz Arena on Friday that showed they have lost none of their \u200cpotency from last season.<\/p>\n
Goals from Dayot Upamecano, Michael Olise, Aleksandar Pavlovic and Luis Diaz capped a superb performance from the hosts during which they also missed several other opportunities.<\/p>\n
It was \u200ba mixed night for Stuttgart\u2019s Josha Vagnoman, who scored at both \u200bends having briefly equalised early in the second half, as Bayern \u2060extended their unbeaten run in their opening game of the new campaign to \u200b15 matches.<\/p>\n
Bayern won the Bundesliga title by 16 points last season, scoring a \u200brecord 122 goals in the process, and there are signs they could be as dominant again as they created chance after chance against the side who finished fourth last term.<\/p>\n
They took \u200bthe lead on 21 minutes when Upamecano headed home Joshua Kimmich\u2019s corner from \u200bclose-range, deftly glancing the ball into the net.<\/p>\n
Both teams hit the woodwork in the first \u200chalf \u2060but Bayern led by the narrowest of margins at the break.<\/p>\n
Stuttgart levelled seven minutes into the second period when Jeff Chabot was denied by a fine save from Manuel Neuer, but Vagnoman fired in the rebound.<\/p>\n
Their joy was short-lived though \u200bas two Bayern strikes \u200bin three minutes \u2060proved decisive.<\/p>\n
First Olise had time and space to finish after Kimmich latched onto Angelo Stiller\u2019s poor pass and the unfortunate \u200bVagnoman then bundled Alphonso Davies\u2019 low cross into his own \u200bnet as \u2060he slipped while trying to clear.<\/p>\n
Olise had a goal ruled out for offside and Diaz was denied on several occasions, but Bayern did get their fourth when \u2060Ismael Saibari \u200bput the ball on a plate for \u200bPavlovic to score a tap-in.<\/p>\n
