United States President Donald Trump said on Sunday there was a strong chance of reaching an agreement with Iran as soon as Monday, while also threatening to escalate attacks dramatically if Tehran fails to deliver quickly.<\/p>\n
“There\u2019s a good chance tomorrow,” Trump told\u00a0Fox News\u00a0about a possible deal with Iran, but later told Israeli\u00a0Channel 12 News\u00a0that an agreement with Tehran could be reached by Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Iran did not respond immediately to Trump’s claim that an agreement may be near.<\/p>\n
Speaking to\u00a0Fox News, Trump said he was considering “blowing everything up” and “taking over the oil” if Iran does not move fast enough toward a deal.<\/p>\n
He said he had granted “immunity from death” to Iranian negotiators to ensure talks could continue, though there was no immediate response from Tehran to this claim. Trump said previously that Washington was in contact with Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, Iran’s parliament speaker.<\/p>\n
Trump also told\u00a0Axios\u00a0that the US was in “deep negotiations” with Iran, naming his envoys Steve Witkoff and presidential son-in-law Jared Kushner as the lead negotiators. Two sources involved in the talks told the online outlet that the negotiations were taking place through Turkish, Pakistani and Egyptian mediators, as well as via text messages between Trump’s advisers and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.<\/p>\n
Trump said talks were “going well”, but that reaching a final agreement with Iran was never straightforward.<\/p>\n
He also explained the reasoning behind Wednesday’s US strike on the B1 bridge, saying Iranian officials had told him they needed five more days before meeting, a delay he interpreted as a lack of seriousness. “I felt they were not being serious. So I attacked the bridge,” he said.<\/p>\n
Trump claimed Iran agreed not to pursue a nuclear weapon, something it has long denied doing. “That’s already been conceded. Most of the points are conceded,” he told\u00a0Fox News.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile,\u00a0Al Jazeera\u00a0reported that\u00a0UAE presidential adviser Anwar Gargash\u00a0said the country was\u00a0willing to join a US-led international effort to \u201csecure navigation in the Strait of Hormuz\u201d.<\/p>\n
Gargash\u00a0said Iran\u2019s \u201cstrategy\u201d in the region would\u00a0bolster the influence of both the US and Israel.<\/p>\n

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Sunday that the rescue operation launched by the US has again failed, contrary to what President Trump earlier claimed-that the mission was successful and the pilot had been rescued.<\/p>\n
In a statement on X, the IRGC Public Relations said that, following the desperate actions of the American enemy to rescue the downed fighter pilot and the entry of enemy aircraft into the centre of the country, a joint operation involving the Air Force, Ground Forces, Popular Mobilisation Units, Basij, and law enforcement was conducted.<\/p>\n

\nIRGC said that the US once again suffered a humiliating defeat, similar to the Tabas operation, adding that Trump, to cover up his heavy defeat, claimed in a tweet that a special operation had been conducted to rescue the pilot of the plane that crashed in Iran.<\/p>\n
“Trump the gambler, the god of Tabas sands is still here,” it said. “On April 24, 1980, the US military carried out a covert operation in Iran under the orders of then president Jimmy Carter. The operation, known as Eagle Claw, failed due to major sandstorms in the central Tabas desert and resulted in the death of American soldiers. The IRGC emphasised that the incident demonstrated the US Army\u2019s helplessness in this imposed conflict and proved it did not constitute a dominant force against the will of the Iranian Armed Forces.<\/p>\n
It added that, following the operation, the US president was attempting to obscure the defeat through misleading statements and psychological tactics, issuing claims that do not reflect the reality on the ground, thereby underscoring the superiority of Iran\u2019s military.<\/p>\n
