Now, the 21-foot “dinosaur pigeon\u201d is preparing for its final blow.<\/p>\n
Scheduled for removal in early April 2026, the installation is concluding its planned run as part of the High Line\u2019s rotating public art programme, which introduces a new large-scale commission every 18 months. As the fourth piece in this ongoing series, the pigeon leaves behind a legacy that is both humorous and oddly heartfealt.<\/p>\n
Its replacement,\u00a0The Light That Shines Through The Universe\u00a0by Tuan Andrew Nguyen, is scheduled to be unveiled in spring of\u00a02026.<\/p>\n
To celebrate the sculpture\u2019s farewell, fans gathered on March 21\u00a0for \u201cThe Send-Off Party\u201d, hosted by the High Line.<\/p>\n
The event embraced the pigeon\u2019s quirky charm with DJ sets, themed bingo and trivia, family workshops, and dedicated photo spots. Many enthusiastic fans dressed as pigeons themselves, showing their affection for the installation.<\/p>\n
Social media was abuzz with creative costumes and nostalgic posts, as visitors reminisced about their time with the pigeon.<\/p>\n
