Iran said on Monday that there have been no negotiations with the United States, rejecting reports of talks amid the ongoing conflict.<\/p>\n
Speaking to the official\u00a0IRNA\u00a0news agency, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said that over the past few days, messages had been conveyed through \u201cfriendly countries\u201d indicating a US request for negotiations to end the war, adding that Iran responded in line with its \u201cprincipled positions\u201d.<\/p>\n
He said Iran\u2019s responses included warnings about the \u201cserious consequences\u201d of any attack on the country\u2019s vital infrastructure, stressing that any action targeting Iran\u2019s energy facilities would be met with a \u201cdecisive, immediate, and effective\u201d response by its armed forces.<\/p>\n
Baghaei also denied that any negotiations or dialogue with the US had taken place over the past 24 days since the outbreak of what he described as the \u201cimposed war”.<\/p>\n
He added that Iran\u2019s position regarding the Strait of Hormuz and the conditions for ending the war \u201chas not changed\u201d.<\/p>\n
Iran\u2019s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf said that no negotiations have taken place with the US, dismissing reports of talks as \u201cfake news\u201d aimed at manipulating financial and oil markets.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo negotiations have been held with the United States. These fake news reports are meant to manipulate financial and oil markets and to escape the quagmire the US and Israel are stuck in,\u201d Qalibaf said on\u00a0X.<\/p>\n
He added that the Iranian people demand a \u201ccomplete and regret-inducing punishment of aggressors\u201d, stressing that all officials stand firmly behind the country\u2019s leadership and the public until that goal is achieved.<\/p>\n
US President Trump said today that recent talks with Iran had been \u201cproductive\u201d.<\/p>\n
He said he had\u00a0ordered a five-day postponement of all strikes on Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure, citing \u201cvery good and productive\u201d talks with Tehran over the past two days.<\/p>\n
Regional escalation has continued to flare since the US and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran on February\u00a028, so far killing over 1,340 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.<\/p>\n
