President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was accorded a warm reception and a guard of honour on Wednesday as he arrived at the Prime Minister\u2019s House for talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.<\/p>\n
Tokayev, accompanied by a high-level delegation of senior cabinet ministers and other officials, is on his first two-day state visit to Pakistan at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz.<\/p>\n
As the visiting leader arrived, Shehbaz received him at the entrance of the Prime Minister\u2019s House, where a formal welcome ceremony was held. The national anthems of Pakistan and Kazakhstan were played as both leaders stood on the saluting dais.<\/p>\n
A smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Army, Navy and Air Force presented the guard of honour, which President Tokayev reviewed. The two leaders then introduced members of their respective delegations before proceeding to a one-on-one meeting, followed by delegation-level talks.<\/p>\n

\nTokayev arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday and was received at Nur Khan Airbase by Prime Minister Shehbaz and President Asif Ali Zardari. A six-member squadron of Pakistan Air Force fighter jets paid a grand aerial salute as his aircraft entered Pakistani airspace.<\/p>\n

During the talks, the two sides are expected to review the full range of bilateral relations and explore ways to deepen cooperation across various sectors. Several memoranda of understanding and agreements aimed at boosting bilateral ties are also expected to be signed.<\/p>\n
Later, President Tokayev planted a commemorative sapling on the lawn of the Prime Minister\u2019s House.<\/p>\n
The route of the Kazakh leader\u2019s motorcade and major roads in the federal capital were decorated with Pakistani and Kazakh flags, along with large portraits of President Tokayev.<\/p>\n
During his visit, Tokayev is also expected to meet President Zardari and address the Pakistan-Kazakhstan Business Forum. The visit is seen as an opportunity for both sides to review ties and discuss cooperation in trade, logistics, regional connectivity, people-to-people contacts, and collaboration at regional and international forums.<\/p>\n
Dar meets Tokayev<\/p>\n
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar called on Kazakhstan President Tokayev, according to a statement issued by the Foreign Office.<\/p>\n
Welcoming him to Pakistan, Dar extended warm greetings from the President, Prime Minister, Government, and people of Pakistan. \u201cHe underscored Pakistan\u2019s appreciation for the growing momentum of high-level political exchanges.
