Undefeated Bayern Munich cruised past hosts Heidenheim 4-0 on Sunday to go into the winter break with a nine-point advantage at the top of the Bundesliga standings.
\nThe Bavarians, who have gone through 2025 without an away league loss, are on 41 points, with\u00a0Borussia Dortmund\u00a0second on 32 following Friday’s 2-0 win at Borussia Moenchengladbach.
\nStruggling Heidenheim are in 17th place on 11. Bayern have won 13 of their 15 league matches this season.
\n“In the new year every team starts from zero points and everyone has to collect the points,” Bayern coach Vincent Kompany told a press conference.
\n“We have to forget how many points we are ahead at this stage. We should keep stepping on the gas until the end and then see where we stand.”
\n“We saw Bayern Munich today despite missing nine players and that is what is important. We have won many games this year. For me, the end of a year it is not the end of the season. There is no reason to take stock now,” said the Belgian.
\nIt was one-way traffic from the start for Kompany’s team, despite missing injured Joshua Kimmich, Manuel Neuer and suspended Konrad Laimer, and they took a 15th-minute lead through a close-range Josip Stanisic header after Heidenheim keeper Diant Ramaj failed to clear a Jonathan Tah header.
\nThe visitors doubled their advantage in the 35th with an almost identical move after again catching the Heidenheim defence napping, Michael Olise tapping in at the far post.
\nThe Bundesliga’s leading scorer Harry Kane rattled the post with a fine solo effort and low shot before Heidenheim substitute Stefan Schimmer responded by hitting the crossbar with the hosts’ best chance.
\nSchimmer should have done better in the 78th with only Bayern’s Jonas Urbig to beat but he volleyed straight at the keeper.
