T20 World Cup; Afghanistan also reached the Super 8 stage

Trinidad:  In the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, Afghanistan defeated Papua New Guinea by 7 wickets to reach the Super 8 stage.

In the 29th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World, Papua New Guinea set a target of 96 runs for Afghanistan to win, which Afghanistan achieved by losing 3 wickets in 15.1 overs.

Afghanistan’s Gulbuddin Naib was the most prominent batsman who played an unbeaten innings of 49 runs, Muhammad Nabi was not out for 16 runs, while Rahmatullah Garbaz scored 11 runs and Azmatullah Umarzai scored 13 runs.

For Papua New Guinea, Eli Nau, Simo Kamia and Norman were dismissed 1-1 each.

Earlier, Afghanistan won the toss and elected to field first, with Papua New Guinea all out for 95 runs in 19.5 overs.

Kaplan Duriga was the most prominent batsman for Papua New Guinea who scored 27 runs, Eli Nau 13, Tony Ora 11 and Chad Super 9. 3 Papua New Guinea players run out.

Afghanistan’s Fazal Haq Farooqui took 3 wickets, while Naveen ul Haq took 2 wickets and Noor Ahmed took 1 wicket.

Afghanistan have qualified for the Super 8 stage by securing 6 points in Group C of the mega event.
