Lanka League started to be called a stronghold of corruption

Karachi:  The Lanka Premier League has been called a stronghold of corruption.

Recently Naeem Rehman, the owner of Dambulla, a franchise of the Lanka Premier League, was arrested, accused of being involved in fixing, after this arrest, the credibility of the Lanka League has started to be questioned.

A Member of Parliament Heesha Wethange has accused the president board, other officials and the tournament director of the Lanka Premier League of being involved in fixing and other corrupt activities in the LPL in a press conference in recent days.

In response to this, in the statement released by the board, the allegations have been rejected completely, and the event has been insisted on transparently.

The spokesperson said, “Since the start of the LPL, we have focused on conducting it transparently. The ICC’s anti-corruption unit oversees our event. An investigation by the same unit led to the discovery of suspicious activities by one of Dambulla’s owners. Based on the information he provided, a man was arrested by the local police. We will stick to our commitment and make every effort to make it possible.

It should be remembered that even in the past, allegations of corruption in Sri Lankan cricket have been coming up frequently, investigations have also been done by the ICC many times
