Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi arrived in China on Sunday to represent Pakistan at the Boao Forum Annual Conference for Asia, Dunya News reported.
PM Abbasi, accompanied by a delegation comprising Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal and other senior officials, was received by Yan Zhaojun, Member of the Standing Committee CPPCC of Sanya upon arrival at Phoenix International Airport Sanya.
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will be one of the keynote speakers at forum along with Chinese President Xi Jinping. PM Abbasi will highlight progress achieved by Pakistan in successfully implementing China-Pakistan Economic Corridor CPEC projects.
This year’s forum, scheduled to be held from April 8 to 11 in Boao, a coastal town in the southern island province of Hainan, will be themed ‘Open and Innovative Asia for a World of Greater Prosperity’.
The Boao Forum for Asia is a non-profit organisation that hosts high-level forums for leaders from government, business, and academia in Asia and other continents to share their vision on the most pressing issues in this dynamic region and the world at large.
Modeled after the World Economic Forum held annually in Davos, Switzerland, the Boao Forum has its fixed address in Boao, Hainan province, China, although the Secretariat is based in Beijing.
Apart from Prime Minister Abbasi, other head of states who are expected to attend the forum include Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen, Mongolian Prime Minister Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, Prime Minister Mark Rutte of the Netherlands, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, and International Monetary Fund Managing Director Christine Lagarde.
